摘要:

There are still mysteries in physics waiting for answers such as the hierarchy problem and the nature of Dark Matter. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) provides an excellent opportunity to search for New Physics that may resolve those mysteries. In this seminar, I'll focus on the physics programs carried out at the LHC featuring "exotic" signatures including searches for heavy resonances and Long Lived Particles.  In addition we'll go over the recent developments trying to improve these searches and finish with a discussion on what we have learned and what we can do in the future.

报告人简介:

Bingxuan Liu earned his Ph.D in 2016 at The Ohio State University, working in the CMS collaboration. During his Ph.D he carried out searches for long-lived particles (LLP) and worked on the CSC sub-detectors. Since 2016, he has been a member in the ATLAS collaboration, working in the Simon Fraser University (present, Canada) and Argonne National Laboratory (past, USA). He has contributed to the TDAQ operation tasks and various Exotic search programs, especially in resonance searches and LLP searches. He served as the ATLAS Flavor Tagging (FTAG) Calibration sub-group convener from 2018-2020 and has lead several calibration analyses using multi-jet events. He is appointed as the (co-)convener of the FTAG group starting from October 2021. His current and future research interests are focused on tracking software development for LLP signatures, flavor tagging and BSM searches.
