The heavy-ion collisions at RHIC and LHC create quark-gluon plasma (QGP), the hot and dense matter of the kind that once filled the early universe.  When seen at long wavelengths, QGP behaves as a liquid with extraordinary small specific shear viscosity. However, when seen at short wavelengths, quarks and gluons in QGP should look like weakly interacting quasi-particles since QCD is asymptotic free. Understanding the "evolution" of the properties of QGP as a function of resolution scale is of one the frontiers in the field. In this talk, I will summarize our current knowledge of QGP in long distances, and discuss recent theoretical developments needed to extract the properties of  QGP at intermediate and short distances through future experiments.
