Due to the difficulty in dealing with charm quark, theoretically analyzing D meson mixing is a challenging topic. The experimental data for this phenomenon are not quantitatively reproduced in the standard model even though some theoretical studies are conducted by means of non-perturbative methods. In this talk, we propose a new method, which is based on the dispersion relation, for analyzing D meson mixing. Supported by the heavy quark expansion offering reliable prediction at high energy, the dispersion relation turns into an inverse problem for determining the observables. We show that the specific solution in the standard model can explain data, and therefore resulting in a first successful framework in a quantitative manner.
